Isabel Allende talked about her book My Invented Country: A Nostalgic Journey Through Chile, published by HarperCollins, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The book is an exploration of her Chilean roots and her life in the United States. The two countries are linked in the book by the murder of her uncle Salvador Allende Gossens during the coup attempt led by General Augusto Pinochet on September 11, 1973, and the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. After her presentation she answered questions from members of the audience. close
