Mr. Schulz and other officials spoke to reporters about their annual human rights report and the impact of the conflict in Iraq on U.S. foreign policy and human rights monitoring. He said that the war had been a distraction and that the government had ignored several human rights violations, most notably in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Following his remarks they answered questions from the reporters. close
