Scholars talked about President Bush’s trip to Europe for a meeting with Russian President Putin and a meeting of G-8 leaders in France. He was also scheduled to attend a summit on the Middle East peace process. Among the issues they addressed were restoring unity with several Western European nations after relations were strained over policy toward Iraq, economic issues, and the U.S. proposals for a “road map” for peace in the Middle East. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
