Ambassador-at-large Paul Nitze spoke before an audience at the Wirth Washington Seminar about the current state of international affairs, particularly concerning the changes occurring in the Soviet Union and the post-war Middle East. Mr. Nitze said the full aftermath of the Persian Gulf war has yet to take place. He criticized the Bush administration for setting their war aims too low, and said the only means to true stability in Iraq would be the removal of Saddam Hussein from power. close
