With landing planes as a backdrop, Rep. Edward Markey (D-Massachusetts) spoke about aviation and airline security, including some of the new screening procedures in place for passengers and luggage. Using bags as props to illustrate his points, he praised the efforts of security personnel, but criticized the fact that much of the cargo was not screened, and urged passage of a law requiring the screening of all cargo and packages to be loaded onto passenger aircraft. Following a prepared statement, he responded to questions from reporters. close
