At the Marriott Crystal Gateway Hotel, officials talked about the White House initiative on historically black colleges and universities. Mr. Pollard talked about the University of the District of Columbia. Mr. Lomax gave the keynote address. He discussed the importance and contributions of historically black colleges and universities in America. A succession of presidents of historically black colleges and universities introduced themselves. Ms. Evans talked about the value of historically black colleges and universities, and J.P.
