Ms. Bacon talked about her memoir Shanghai Diary: A Young Girl’s Journey from Hitler’s Hate to War-Torn China, published by M Press. She described her experiences as a Jew in Europe during World War II. At age 11, she and her family emigrated to China the night the Gestapo came for her father. Bacon was one of 20,000 other Jews who left for Shanghai. She lived there for seven years. After her presentation she answered audience members' questions. close
