Among the issues addressed were increasing violence, the inability of the Afghan central government to exert authority, and the lack of coordination between U.S. agencies operating in the country. Witnesses and committee members discussed how reconstruction and stabilization should proceed, and whether or not sufficient resources were being devoted to these efforts. close
