The panelists discussed the emotional strain of writing about war. Swofford is a veteran of the first Gulf War and author of Jarhead: A Marine’s Chronicle of the Gulf War and Other Battles. Stafford is the son of anti-war poet and essayist William Stafford and editor of Every War Has Two Losers: William Stafford on Peace and War. Baiev and Daniloff are co-authors of The Oath: A Surgeon Under Fire. Lee wrote Canal House. Mr. Simpson served as moderator. After the panelists' presentations, they answered audience members' questions. close
