The Vaccine Evaluation Committee of the Institute of Medicine released a list of recommendations regarding the development, financing, distribution, and use of vaccines. At this panel, hosted by the American Enterprise Institute, some of the committee members and other experts in the field talked about the recommendations and related issues. Among the topics they discussed were the balance between low cost vaccines and economic incentives for vaccine research and development, the presence of financial disincentives, and the proper degree of government involvement in the vaccine market. Mr. Helms moderated the panel. Following prepared remarks, panelists responded to questions from the audience. close
