Democratic presidential candidates spoke to party members about their campaigns. Senator Edwards emphasized the issues of poverty and racism and coalition building in foreign policy. He presented himself as a force for change in Washington and as running a clean campaign. Senator Kerry emphasized defeating President Bush in the election as he mentioned topics including agribusiness and other big businesses, health care, lobbying, education, energy independence, and national security. Former Representative Kucinich emphasized redirecting resources from the war in Iraq toward domestic projects. He also addressed other issues including health care and global trade. Former Governor Dean emphasized the economy and budget deficits, focusing on President Bush’s tax cuts, prescription drug coverage, and big business practices. He also talked about the war against terrorism, focusing on Iraq. Mr. Sovern introduced the speakers. Mr. Boyle spoke impersonating President Bush. After the speeches the candidates mingles with the audience. close
