Rep. Thomas, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, spoke at the National Press Club about health care. He discussed health insurance, the health care market, and the creation of individual health savings accounts. He criticized employer-based health plans and the current tax subsidy structure, which he said favors third party payer plans over personal accounts. Rep. Thomas also outlined ideas for increasing competition in the health insurance market and helping Americans obtain insurance.
