Bob Huffaker, Bill Mercer, George Phenix, and Wes Wise talked about their book When the News Went Live: Dallas 1963, published by Rowman and Littlefield. The book is about the television coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. The authors, all broadcast newsmen in Dallas at the time of the assassination, covered the unfolding events as they occurred at a pace too fast for print journalism. The men discussed the events immediately following the assassination as well as the broadcast of the murder of Lee Harvey Oswald by Jack Ruby. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
