Mr. Barry talked about his book, The Great Influenza: The Epic Story of the Deadliest Plague in History, published by Viking Press. In the book, the author chronicles the influenza pandemic of 1918. The disease spread across the globe and caused more deaths than AIDS or the Black Plague. Mr. Barry also addresses the critical role doctors played in tracking the virus, and the ways in which they were ultimately able to contain the outbreak. Mr. Barry responded to questions from members of the audience. close
