Author Jeffrey Paine talked about his book, "Re-Enchantment: Tibetan Buddhism Comes to the West", published by W.W. Norton and Company. In the book, Paine examined the spread of Buddhism in the Western Hemisphere. He talked about its effects on Hollywood, young adults, and people looking for spiritual change. Paine chronicled the emergence of some Westerners as important Buddhist figures in the Eastern Hemisphere. He talked about the case of Jetsunma, formerly Catherine Burroughs, who became the first Westerner to be recognized as a reincarnated Buddhist. Following Paine’s presentation, Professor Harvey Cox critiqued the book. Both men then responded to questions from the audience, and from viewers who were watching the live webcast. close
