Wolfgang Samuel talked about his book, American Raiders: The Race to Capture the Luftwaffe’s Secrets, published by University of Mississippi Press. The author, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel, was inspired to write the book from his own experiences during and after World War II. Mr. Samuel recalls his time as a young refugee on a Berlin Airlift base, and his work as an Air Force pilot. He also discusses Germany’s air power during World War II, and the American efforts to match German technology. Mr. Samuel contends that, for the United States, the struggle for aircraft technologies was the final battle of World War II. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
