Members from the Irish House of Representatives gave statements on Iraq, including the abuse of prisoners and the role of the United Nations as the June 30, 2004 transfer of sovereignty deadline approaches. Members also challenged the U.S. and British governments on their decision to go to war. President Bush is scheduled to visit Ireland later in the month to attend the US-European Union Summit. Ireland currently holds the six-month rotating presidency of the European Union. close
