President of the Wildlife Center of Virginia, Edward Clark, spoke about the status of the Endangered Species Act. A live American eagle accompanied him on the set. At issue was the possible removal of the American eagle and other species from the Endangered Species list. Some lawmakers are working to refine the act’s definition of "critical habitat". Developers contend that the current definition is too broad and applies to an excessive amount of territory. Environmentalists claim that narrowing the definition could lead to a loss of habitat for threatened and endangered animals. close
