Peter Schwartz, chairman of the board of directors of the Ayn Rand Institute, is the author of Libertarianism: The Perversion of Liberty and The Foreign Policy of Self-Interest: A Moral Ideal for America. He has edited an edition of Ayn Rand’s Return of the Primitive: The Anti-Industrial Revolution, which includes an introduction and some additional essays that he wrote.

Mr. Schwartz presented a lecture titled “The Virtue of Selfishness: Why Achieving Your Happiness Is Your Highest Moral Purpose” as part of the Ayn Rand Institute’s centenary celebration of Ayn Rand’s birth on February 2, 1905. Ms. Rand’s book, Virtue of Selfishness: A New Concept of Egoism, available in paperback from Signet Books, is a collection of essays on objectivism and the author’s views on the importance of rights of the individual as well as the minimization of government regulation. Following his remarks he answered questions from the audience.
