The Harlem Book Fair on Saturday, July 24 was located on West 135th Street between Lenox Avenue and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard in New York City. Panel discussions were held in the Langston Hughes Auditorium in the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.For the panel called “Politics of the Black World” panelists included: Manthia Diawara, author of We Won’t Budge: An African Exile in the World, published by Basic Civitas; Rebecca Carroll, author of Saving the Race: Conversations on Du Bois from A Collective Memoir of Souls, published by Harlem Moon; Ray Winbush, author of Should America Pay?: Slavery and the Raging Debate on Reparations, published by Amistad; Ellis Cose, author of Bone to Pick: Of Forgiveness, Reconciliation, Reparation and Revenge, published by Atria; and Howard French, author of A Continent for the Taking: The Tragedy and Hope of Africa, published by Knopf.
