White House Curator Emeritus Rex Scouten talked about his 17 years as chief usher of the White House. The chief usher is responsible for managing the White House, events held there, construction, and the first family’s quarters. Mrs. Nancy Reagan brought Mr. Scouten back from a brief retirement to be curator of the White House, with responsibility for furnishings, fine art and more. He is now Curator Emeritus. He showed many slides illustrating his stories. After his presentation he answered questions from the audience. close
