Nancy Pearl will receive the 2004 Women’s National Book Association award for extraordinary contributions to the world of books and talk about her love of books and reading.

The fiftieth recipient of the bi-annual WNBA award is an author, librarian, book reviewer, and radio talk show personality. The former director of youth services for Washington State’s Center of the Book at the Seattle Public Library, she is the author of Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason, published by Sasquatch Books and the forthcoming More Book Lust. She is the creator of “If All of Seattle Read the Same Book,” a program that has been adopted by cities throughout the country. The award was presented at a reception at the Library of Congress co-sponsored by The Center for the Book. close
