The Strand also held an author event with Art Spiegelman, author of “Maus” and "In the Shadow of No Towers". The guests responded to questions from the audience in the store and telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail from viewers.
In 1927 Benjamin Bass founded the Strand Book Store along New York’s long-famous and now-extinct “Book Row.” Seventy-seven years later the store is still in the Bass family and is still a destination point for New Yorkers and visitors alike. It has grown to occupy four stories in its present location at 12th Street and Broadway, living up to the Strand slogan “18 miles of books.” The Strand is located at 828 Broadway.
