Tappan Wilder talked about his late uncle’s book, Heaven’s My Destination: A Novel, published by HarperCollins. The book deals with George Brush, a traveling salesman crisscrossing Middle America during the Great Depression.
Tappan Wilder is the nephew of the late dramatist, author, and playwright Thornton Wilder. He is also the editor of a book of short plays written by Thornton Wilder.
Mr. Wilder asserted that the book is fundamentally “a novel about the nature of goodness,” and one that provides insight into Thornton Wilder’s life. He spoke about the book’s publication history, from the writing and initial publication in the 1930s to its republication this year. Tappan Wilder’s remarks included a number of personal anecdotes about his literary uncle, and concluded with a response to audience questions. close
