State Department representatives spoke to reporters about changing priorities in the allocation of funds for reconstruction in Iraq. They noted that the U.S. commitment to the current timeline for elections in Iraq has not changed, but a review by State Department officials, military leaders, and the Iraqi Interim Government has proposed that more reconstruction funds be spent on security. One goal of this reallocation is to provide jobs to unemployed Iraqis. The speakers also responded to questions from the press. close
