Author George Marlin talked about his book The American Catholic Voter: Two Hundred Years Of Political Impact, published by St. Augustine’s Press. He traced the history of Catholic voter trends from colonial America to the present. Mr. Marlin discussed the role that Catholics will play in the 2004 election as well as the notion of “cafeteria Catholics” and how they have become a major part of the voting equation. Michael Barone, the author of the introduction to The American Catholic Voter, made remarks following Mr. Marlin. William D’Antonio, Catholic University sociology professor and author of American Catholics: Gender, Generation, and Commitment joined the discussion, and the panelists responded to audience members' questions. close
