Mr. Frankel talked about his book High Noon in the Cold War: Kennedy, Khrushchev, and the Cuban Missile Crisis, published by Presidio Press. He discussed the events surrounding the Cuban Missile Crisis and drew parallels between the “atrocious intelligence” during the crisis and similar intelligence failures during the war on terror.
Ambassador Ross talked about his book The Missing Peace: The Inside Story of the Fight for Middle East Peace, published by Farrar, Strauss and Giroux. He spoke about his experiences as a diplomat during the administrations of George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. He spoke about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and efforts to reach a peaceful solution to that conflict. He reflected on the death of Yasser Arafat and the impact of Chairman Arafat’s death on the future of Israeli-Palestinian relations.
