Ms. Potts talked about her book Adventure Tales of Benjamin Banneker, published by Signal Media of Arkansas, Inc. Ms. Potts talked with children about Benjamin Banneker at a celebration of his birthday at the Banneker Historical Park and Museum. Benjamin Banneker, an early African-American scientist, was born on November 9, 1731, and went on to an illustrious career as an astronomer, mathematician and surveyor of Washington, D.C.'s boundaries. Ms. Potts spoke about Banneker’s life and career, as well as his work as an early abolitionist. She opened the talk with a description of her work on learning techniques, which she incorporates in her book, and then moved on to a slide presentation of Banneker’s life. close
