Secretary Abraham spoke about his relationship with Senator Frist and the role of the Senate in shaping the federal judiciary. Senator Frist spoke about Republican efforts to promote tort reform as well as plans to change Senate rules to limit filibusters. Democratic Senators have successfully employed filibusters to block the appointment of several judges. Senator Frist expressed “grave concerns” about the use of the filibuster and pledged to work to eliminate its use in the judicial nomination process. close
