Mr. Cole spoke about an effort to digitize U.S. newspapers. The project, a collaborative effort between the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities, will reproduce U.S. newspapers from the early nineteenth century in a fully searchable, web-based form. Mr. Cole spoke about the value of historic newspapers to researchers, teachers, and students. Following his remarks, Mr. Cole responded to questions from members of the audience.
