Mr. Kimball talked about his book Rape of the Masters: How Political Correctness Sabotages Art, published by Encounter Books. In his remarks he commented on the state of art history, the uses of art and philosophy in academic studies of culture, and past arguments over the meaning of art and about how political correctness has influenced the interpretation of art in academia. Mr. Kimball argues that the subject of art history has been hijacked by people whose interpretations are based more on their own politics than on anything the artists they write about are trying to convey. Following his remarks he answered questions from members of the audience. close
