Mr. Maduku spoke from the C-SPAN studio in New York City about recent political developments in Zimbabwe, the future of the constitutional reform movement there, its upcoming parliamentary elections, charges of human rights violations by government officials, and international interests in Africa. He leads a non-governmental organization in Zimbabwe that advocates constitutional reforms and opposes current President Roger Mugabe and his government. Last week, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said during her Senate confirmation hearing that Zimbabwe was an “outpost of tyranny.” He responded to telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail from viewers. close
