Author Tom Wolfe spent a day in Washington, D.C. to discuss and promote his new novel, I Am Charlotte Simmons, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. Book TV accompanied Mr. Wolfe as he appeared at the Aspen Institute and was a guest on WMAU public radio’s Diane Rehm Show. The novel concerns the state of affairs at institutions of higher learning in the United States, and the rude awakening of a previously sheltered young woman. Tom Wolfe traveled to many colleges before writing this novel, and he contends that casual sex dominates the social lives of most students. close
