Professor Churchill spoke about the controversy surrounding his book On the Justice of Roosting Chickens: Reflections on the Consequences of U.S. Imperial Arrogance and Criminality, published by AK Press. The book was an expansion of an article about the attacks of September 11, 2001 arguing that Americans should not have been surprised by attacks against symbols of Western culture and capitalism. Rather, he cited the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children in the wake of U.N. sanctions placed on Iraq after the first Gulf War as a justification by Islamic militants for the acts of terrorism.

The most controversial aspect of his writings were the characterization of the people killed at the World Trade Center “little Eichmanns,” an allusion to Nazi bureaucrat Adolf Eichmann, a chief facilitator of Hitler’s Final Solution.
