Participants spoke to reporters about the release of a publication by the Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations titled First Impressions: American Muslim Perspectives on the 9/11 Report. Speakers included Talat Hamdani, the mother of an American Muslim victim of September 11; Mounzer Sleiman, to speak about the September 11 Commission report; and Rizwan Mulana, a speaker on civil rights from the Council of American Muslim Relations. Among the topics they addressed were civil liberties and detention of Arab Americans, immigration issues, and Muslim responses to law enforcement efforts under the USA Patriot Act. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
