The panel titled “The Investigated Life: Arguments for Literature and Philosophy” met in the City Council Chambers to discuss reading and raising questions to improve your life. After opening statements the panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. The discussion on reading and philosophy discussing the history and the role of critical theory was moderated by Professor Thomas.

David Kirby, a poet, is the author of What is a Book?, published by University of Georgia Press. Christopher Phillips is the founder of the nonprofit Society for Philosophical Inquiry and the author of Six Questions of Socrates: A Modern-Day Journey of Discovery through World Philosophyand Socrates Cafe: A Fresh Taste of Philosophy, both published by W. W. Norton and Company and The Philosophers' Club, published by Tricycle Press. close
