Ms. Maathai, 2004 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, gave a lecture titled “The Future of the Planet is in Your Hands” in the Historic Grand Hall of Cooper Union on International Women’s Day. She is the author of The Green Belt Movement: Sharing the Approach and the Experience, published by Lantern Books. She talked aout issues she says need to be better addressed by governments around the world, such as environmental protection, global warming, debt relief, poverty reduction, and international trade. Following her remarks she answered questions from members of the audience. close
