Undersecretary Feith and Admiral Sullivan announced the release of the National Defense Strategy and National Military Strategy, both of which are unclassified except for certain appendices of the latter. The National Defense Strategy is the Defense secretary’s guide to the department for implementing the president’s National Security Strategy. The defense strategy also is the foundation for the Quadrennial Defense Review process. Topics included dealing with strategic uncertainty, terrorism, a more agile military, the force size, and security cooperation with other countries. close
