Mr. Bordewich talked about his book Bound For Canaan: The Underground Railroad and the War for the Soul of America, published by Amistad Press. In the book Mr. Bordewich covered sixty years of the Underground Railroad from its Quaker beginnings to the end of the nineteenth century. He claimed that the black migration movement in America during slavery was bi-racial and highly politically motivated. The author also explained that the railroad was not a fixed system and routes would close after becoming too dangerous. After his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
