The Subcommitte on National Security, Emerging Threats and International Relations of the House Government Reform Committee held a hearing on overseas security. The hearing focused on the findings of a new Government Accountability Office report “Overseas Security: State Department Has Not Fully Implemented Key Measures to Protect U.S. Officials from Terrorist Attacks Outside Embassies.” Among the issues addressed were the state of U.S. facilities overseas, identification of safety and security threats to personnel and families living abroad, and implementing counterterrorism training for overseas personnel. close
