Thomas DiLorenzo talked about his book, How Capitalism Saved America: The Untold History of Our Country, From the Pilgrims to the Present, published by Crown Forum. In it, the author chronicles how he believes capitalism has affected the formation of our country over the past four hundred years. He also writes that historians are often quick to blame capitalists for many of the economic setbacks faced by the United States such as the Great Depression, energy deregulation, etc., but he believes there are other causes for the problems. He discusses how the history of capitalism has often been inaccurately portrayed and the difference between capitalism and mercantilism. After his presentation he responded to questions from members of the audience. close
