The annual Rock the Vote awards dinner honored former President Bill Clinton with its first Lifetime Achievement award, which he accepted via videotape. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) were honored with the Rock the Nation awards. The musical group Black Eyed Peas received an award for promoting voter registration during their concerts. The dinner’s co-chairs were former Republican vice presidential candidate Jack Kemp and former DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe. The Urban Nation Hip-hop Choir and others provided music. This event took place at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
