Kevin Boyle was interviewed by Mr. Arnesen about his book Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights, and Murder in the Jazz Age, published by Henry Holt and Co. Mr. Boyle discussed racial tension and segregated neighborhoods in the northern United States, particularly Detroit, Michigan. In the book he used the trial of Ossian Sweet, an African-American doctor in Detroit who was defended on murder charges by the famous lawyer Clarence Darrow to explore the history of race relations in the U.S. during the 1920s. After the discussion he responded to questions from members of the audience.
