The Senate Indian Affairs Committee held an oversight hearing on tribal lobbying and pending investigation of tribal lobbying and its ties to current members of Congress. Witnesses focused on fund raising practices, levels of profits by lobbyists, conflicts of interests, and use of fundraising profits. They also talked about several documents suggesting improper use of funds and fraud against the Indian tribes.

The hearing was the third in a series that the committee had conducted on this matter. Witnesses included representatives of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians; former lobbying associates of Jack Abramoff who served as client managers for the Tribe; and people associated with entities through or to which Mr. Abramoff or Mr. Scanlon directed the Tribes to pay money. close
