The Newseum hosted a forum at the National Press Club on the topic of the state of the First Amendment in 2001. Following a presentation of data collected by Professor Yalof’s New England Survey Result Associates, panelists talked about the impact of public opinion on media coverage of events and the freedom of the press. Among the issues addressed were perceptions of media bias, the use of confidential sources, public trust in mews reporting, and the state of journalism. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
