The House Homeland Security Committee heard testimony on Secretary Chertoff’s second-stage review of the department and proposals for reorganization. Among the issues addressed were intelligence gathering and analysis, transportation security, and the pace of implementing legislation based on recommendations by the September 11 Commission on Terrorist Attacks. Secretary Chertoff also testified about the role of state and local agencies in preparations for and responses to terrorist threats. close
