Senator Schumer spoke about the choice of a Supreme Court nominee. On July 1, Supreme Court Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor had announced her plan to retire before the start of the next term. Senator Schumer discussed the role of judicial philosophy in the confirmation process. Following his remarks, he responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
