Editors of Newsweek and Time magazines discussed the state of journalism at an Aurora Forum at Stanford University, moderated by Mr. Stolley, titled “Is News Journalism Under Siege?” Topics included corporate influence on the news, ways in which news coverage has changed, the growth of web logs and their influence on traditional news media such as loss of readership, the diminished respect for and confidence in the traditional media, and current journalism-related events, especially the use of confidential or anonymous sources. After their discussion they responded to questions from members of the audience. close
