Ms. Guerrero, the first Hispanic woman to be named chair of the Railroad Commission of Texas and a former member of the Texas House of Representatives, discussed her childhood in Texas and her career in Texas politics. Ms. Guerrero explained her work in the corn fields as a teenager, which she said motivated her to attend college, and she also explained her work as railroad commissioner, who heads the agency that regulates much of Texas' economy. She discussed her beginnings in Texas politics beginning at the University of Texas through her career in the House of Representatives and her association with Texas governor Ann Richards. close
