Tony Mauro of USA Today and David Bartlett of the Radio-TV News Directors Association spoke about the use of television cameras in courtrooms on the first day of a three year experiment allowing television cameras in Federal courtrooms. Mr. Mauro said he wished television cameras were allowed into the Supreme Court, but said that judging by the actions of Supreme Court justices, that day is still distant. A short excerpt from Supreme Court Justice Souter’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings and an excerpt from a news conference by Antonin Scalia were aired during the call-in. Both excerpts involved the opinions of the Justices about cameras in Federal courtrooms. close
